In 2009, our Church began regular Strategic Planning, discerning what God is calling us to do. This process led us to a vision statement, mission elements and statements of our values. In addition, we regularly set goals and action plans toward meeting those goals.

5. What should I expect When I Visit?
a. Per our vision, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Oskaloosa is a welcoming place where people feel a connection to God through Jesus Christ and a commitment to each other, our community and the world.

6. What should I expect in Church?
a. Disciples worshiping Christ
b. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, beliefs, religious affiliation, etc.

7. What is worship like?
a. Warm, friendly, spiritual worship.

8. What should I wear?
a. We have no formal dress requirement. Many “dress up”, but many wear jeans, and occasionally shorts. All are welcome no matter how dressed.
9. What is communion and what is it like at FCC?
a. The Lord's Supper or Communion is celebrated in weekly worship. It is open to all who are followers of Jesus Christ. The practice of Holy Communion has become the central element of worship within the Disciples tradition.
b. Disciples' observance of the Lord's Supper emanates from the upper room, where Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the living Christ is met and received in the sharing of the bread and the cup (grape juice), representative of the body and blood of Jesus. The presence of the living Lord is affirmed and he is proclaimed to be the dominant power in our lives.
10. “Where do I park and where should I go when I arrive!”
a. Parking is available around the Church, primarily to the east and west of the building.
b. When you arrive, enter the east entrance, head up the stairs where Members of our Church will greet you.
11. I'm new to FCC, How do I get started? How can I become a member at FCC?
a. Contact any member of our staff and they will discuss with you our process for joining our Church.
b. We accept members via
i. Transfer of membership from other Churches, and / or
ii. Baptism
iii. Along with confession of faith that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.
iv. And we encourage potential new members to attend our New Membership class to learn about our beliefs in Jesus Christ.
